It’s 4am. You’re in Cannes.
And you’re hungry either due to the sweet siren song of rosé or the fact that you didn’t get any nourishment since noon.
Or a combination of the two.
There are a few (mostly expensive) options in hotels and the like.
But there are couple of place where you can get a little nosh in the wee hours.
First, our friends at Deutsch LA offer up “Cannes Has Pizza.”
From Jeff Sweat, who may be one of the tallest here in Cannes (if Chris Maples from Spotify isn’t here):
Cannes Has Pizza started at 5:00 in the morning in Cannes three years ago, when I was desperately searching for the food. This year we’ll be delivering 1800 slices of pizza throughout the week, Tuesday-Thursday nights, going from 12-2 am.
We’re working with a local pizzeria to hand out pizza from five Deutsch LA-branded scooters anywhere there’s a crowd on the street, whether that’s at a party letting out or at Cannes legends like the Gutter Bar. Drivers will be wearing our colors, with orange jumpsuits and white helmets.
Rather than having people simply hope we stop by, we wanted to give people a way to find a slice. So we created a mobile delivery app and a mobile site, CannesHasPizza.com. Drivers will be carrying GPS-enabled iPhones in arm holsters, and when they take off for a new destination, say the Gutter Bar, they punch in that destination on the app.
That’s one option.
Then, there’s one that people may not even know about, but it can be the savior: the 24 hour Casino Expressmart on Rue George Clemenceau just one street away from Quai Saint-Pierre and up a bit in Le Suqet.
It’s near our flat and we stumbled upon it (in the daytime — come on, it’s still early in the week).
This is vending mitzvah.
You can get just about anything that will cure the 4am munchies and perhaps soak up a little but of that #CannesLions Magic Pink Grape Juice.
Wings? Yep.
Sardines? Many to choose from.
Sandwiches? Get at it.
Petit écolier cookies? Absolument.
And, if you, er, um — you know. There’s a machine with condoms as well.
So there you go. A couple of alternative options when it’s late/early and you need a little something.
